Supporting our vibrant community through resources sharing and mentorship

About Us

The Doctoral Student Committee (DSC) originated as a task force in 2014 and was created to ensure that doctoral students’ needs, interests, and priorities are accurately reflected in SSWR doctoral student programming. In December 2018, the task force became a standing committee of SSWR. Our committee strives to reflect the diversity of social work doctoral students, their research areas, and their institutions.

Then, on February 29th, 2020, the DSC formed the Leadership Committee. The Leadership committee consists of the Student Director at Large & Chair of the DSC and the Chairs of the DSC subcommittees (communications, mentoring, and conference). This committee meets monthly and was formed to create more collaboration and awareness of subcommittee proceedings.

This website, produced and maintained by the SSWR Doctoral Student Committee, is our effort to build up the doctoral student community through resource sharing. We believe that social work doctoral students are valuable peer mentors. Our goal is to provide the resources to help peers connect with each other across universities to help each other succeed. By establishing this digital home, together we can connect and grow our vibrant community.
